Modern Slavery Statement

Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement

Man with Van Cockfosters is committed to conducting all aspects of its business in an ethical, responsible, and transparent manner. This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to respect human rights and to support the eradication of all forms of forced labour, servitude, and exploitation.

Our Business and Supply Chain

Man with Van Cockfosters provides local and regional transport and removal services. Our operations rely on a combination of directly engaged staff, self-employed drivers, and a network of suppliers and subcontractors who may provide vehicles, equipment, storage facilities, and ancillary services. We understand that modern slavery risks can arise at multiple points in these supply chains, particularly where recruitment, temporary labour, or outsourced services are involved.

Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery

We have a clear zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. Any form of forced, bonded, or compulsory labour, as well as child labour that is not in line with international standards, is strictly prohibited within our business and among our suppliers. We expect all individuals and organisations we work with to share this commitment and to operate in accordance with applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws.

Our zero-tolerance policy applies to all employees, workers, agency staff, subcontractors, and suppliers. Where we identify non-compliance or serious concerns relating to modern slavery, we will take appropriate and proportionate action, which may include suspending work, terminating contracts, and reporting concerns to relevant authorities.

Supplier Standards and Audits

We are committed to working only with suppliers and subcontractors who demonstrate respect for human rights and fair working conditions. As part of our onboarding and ongoing management of suppliers, we communicate our expectations regarding modern slavery and require confirmation that they comply with all relevant legislation.

Where appropriate and proportionate to the level of risk, we conduct supplier reviews and audits to assess compliance with our ethical standards. These audits may include requests for information about recruitment practices, use of labour agencies, working hours, pay conditions, and grievance procedures. If an audit or review identifies areas of concern, we will work with the supplier on corrective actions, subject to defined timescales, and reserve the right to end the relationship if improvements are not made.

Reporting Channels and Raising Concerns

We encourage anyone working for or with Man with Van Cockfosters to speak up if they have concerns about modern slavery, exploitation, or unethical practices in our operations or supply chains. Employees and contractors are expected to raise concerns with their line manager or a senior member of the management team. Concerns may include, but are not limited to, indicators of forced labour, withholding of identification documents, unexplained deductions from wages, or evidence of intimidation or threats.

We will treat any reports sensitively and, where possible, confidentially. No one will suffer retaliation or disadvantage for reporting a genuine concern in good faith, even if it is not substantiated following investigation. All reports will be considered promptly, and appropriate investigative and remedial steps will be taken where necessary, including engagement with suppliers and, if required, external authorities.

Training and Awareness

We recognise that awareness and understanding are essential to preventing modern slavery. We aim to provide relevant information and guidance to staff and key suppliers so that they can identify signs of modern slavery and understand how to respond. Management teams are responsible for promoting our zero-tolerance approach and ensuring that our policies are implemented in day-to-day operations, particularly when engaging new suppliers or subcontractors.

Monitoring, Governance, and Annual Review

Responsibility for overseeing our modern slavery commitments rests with the senior management of Man with Van Cockfosters. They are accountable for ensuring that appropriate policies, procedures, and controls are maintained and that these are regularly reviewed and updated in line with legal and best practice developments.

This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is reviewed annually to assess its effectiveness and to identify opportunities for improvement. As part of the annual review, we consider any incidents, concerns raised, audit findings, and changes in our business model or supply chains. Where necessary, we will update our processes, strengthen due diligence measures, and enhance training and communication to further reduce the risk of modern slavery within our sphere of influence.

Man with Van Cockfosters remains firmly committed to working collaboratively with employees, suppliers, and other stakeholders to support ethical, fair, and lawful working conditions for all individuals connected to our business and services.
